Nigeria’s 19 years old, Ella Onojuvwevwo has won the first heat of the Women’s 400m Repechage at the Paris Olympics.
Ella Onojuvwevwo beat Poland Justyna Swiety-Ersetic who ran 50.89s and Ireland Sharlene Mawdsley who ran 51.18s.
She finished top on the table with an impressive running time of 50.59s to secure an automatic spot in the semifinals.

Ella’s come back is a huge relief to team Nigeria who came fourth place in the mixed 4×400m event.
The quartet of Samuel Ogazi, Ella Onojuvwevwo, Emmanuel Ifeanyi Ojeli and Patience Okon-George had set a national record of 3:11.99 in the mixed 4×400m event, Premium reports.
With the outcome of the event, team Nigeria now awaits the result to see if they will qualify as best losers in the finals.
Meanwhile, Ella’s win has her qualified for the Tokyo 2025 World Championships.
