Belgium beat Japan 3-2 at the Rostov Arena to set up a mouth-watering quarter-final tie with tournament favourite Brazil on Friday
Roberto Martinez men fought back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at regulation time.
Two quick second-half goals from Genki Haraguichi and Takashi Inui put Japan 2-0 up against the favourite.
Shortly after the restart after Inui’s goal, Eden Hazard hit the post from a well-taken strike. Belgium responded with Jan Vertonghen’s looping header to reduce the deficit. Substitute Marouane Fellaini headed in Eden Hazard’s pinpoint cross in the 74th minute to level the tie.
Another brilliant substitute Nacer Chadli sealed the victory with a goal in the 94th minute finishing brilliantly from a counter-attack initiated by Thibaut Courtoise after Japan’s corner kick.
Belgium face Brazil on Friday for a place in the semis.
