When you bring mirror in front of children the look into it and see their self, some of them ry to touch it, some smile to see if the one in the mirror smiles to, so i wonder what is their thought when they see their selfs on mirror.
I once heard someone saying that, it is bad for babies to look at their self in a mirror. No, it is not true. Babies below 18 months naturally do not recognize their selves when the look at the mirror, but as they continue to look at it they start knowing their self. In fact it is one of the greatest fun I must say for the babies to see the other baby which is their self in the mirror.
when they start knowing it’s their self, you see them smile to see if the baby inside the mirror will smile too when it smiles the became excited about this, at this point try to collect them the mirror and see their reaction, they cry because you are spoiling their fun.
Babies brain is like a new computer, barely empty, with no event memories as such they are always curious to learn and to know. That is why they want to know how they look like and they can simply know this when they start seeing their selves in the mirror, some of them will turn to the back of the mirror thinking maybe is another baby that is standing behind and reflecting in the piece of glass before them.
