Some days ago, I boarded a tricycle trying to get home after exhausting my to~do list for the day. My fare was #50 but I handed a 500 Naira bill to the rider. It is traditional in Akwa Ibom State to seek the consent of any commercial driver before boarding if you’re with a 500 or 1.000 Naira bill. I must confess that I missed that part as I was glued to my phone following a pre~scheduled webinar that had begun ~ My insensitivity.
Immediately I presented the #500 bill, I acknowledged my mistake of not telling him and subsequently apologised. He looked at me in a disdainful manner and said, “bros, I no get that change, why you no tell me say you carry 5H? Find change gimme, I no wan waste time for here”
Knowing that he has a point, i should have told him, I begged him to ask other passengers or better still ask other riders. He was still ranting, telling me he can’t make such move. Later, he left without collecting his pay though with empty abuses and curses. He was so bittered.
He was punishing himself for my own mistakes.

I’m my afterthought, I wondered why he was so focused on the problem, doing nothing about finding any solution.
A lot of people are like that. They understand the statement of the problem and can identify where the problem lies, but haven’t tried proffering solution. Some even know what to do but bluntly refuse to be engaged just like the tricycle rider. Don’t be stuck in the grey area between the problem and the solution which is doing nothing.

The knowledge of the problem is in itself inconsequential and immaterial if no effort is geared towards finding a solution. If you’re hungry, you’ve identified a problem. The moment you get food for your self, that’s when you’d be gratified.
You can’t make any difference if you don’t move from the sidelines (problems) and wade into the fray (solution). The difference doesn’t have to be huge. You can’tsolve the world’s problems, but you can solve the problem of the next guy close to you, you can make a difference in you society.
The world only applaud solution finders.
Focus on the solution and not the problem.
