Governor Udom Emmanuel has rewarded two core supporters, a journalist and woman leader; Mrs Ekaette Joseph Thompson and a woman leader Mrs Patience Dominic, today with two salon cars.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation Essien Ndueso who announced the presentation in Government House, Uyo, said Mr Emmanuel is the most journalist friendly Governor in the country.
He recalled that three newspaper publishers, Joseph Okon of Anchor Express, Ernest Akpan of Towncrier and Ndanti Ekuh of Daily Details newspapers just recently got appointed as personal aides of the governor.
He assured that the Governor will continue to show support to media professionals across the state especially those who diligently focus on objectivity and developmental journalism, and sued for more support for the Governor.
Presenting the vehicles, the State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Amos Etuk thanked the Governor for always supporting journalists and showing.
He said he was particularly excited that Ekaette Thompson was selected by the Governor and described her as a very diligent and focused member of the pen profession.
He also thanked the Governor for his choice of media aides and information managers, most of who had been practising in the state, and assured that journalists in the state under his leadership will continue to support the administration.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor on local media Prince Emmanuel Sam, said he had predicted that Governor Emmanuel will provide various forms of support and incentives to media professionals in the state and assured that the car gift to Mrs Ekaette Thompson is a vista to more incentives to various other media professionals in the state.
The beneficiaries in their separate responses expressed pleasant surprise on the gifts they received.
Mrs Ekaette Thompson said she worked as a journalist for 12 years in both cross river and Akwa Ibom and is yet to see a Governor like Udom Emmanuel.
Also speaking, Mrs. Patience Dominic who is the President of Sisters of Udom Emmanuel, thanked the Governor for the recognition accorded her and pledged to continue galvanizing supporting for the success of his government.
