Nigerians have raised alarm over the attack of a train plying Abuja-Kaduna railway way by unknown bandits yesterday, Monday.
News of the attack on the train was shared by some passengers onboard the train on Social media.
However, the Kaduna State Police Command while debunking the rumour of the train being attacked by bandits said, that the train was stoned by miscreants in the area, not bandits.
The State Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige stated that the incident happened around Rijana village, close to Kaduna while the train was moving.
He said, “It was not a bullet or bow and arrow, what they threw are not aggressive weapons. It was not an attack, the train was moving. Our men in Rijana are on top of the situation.”
Although no passenger was injured in the incident, Jalige hinted that the train arrived Kaduna safe.
Also, the Command Spokesman said a thorough investigation would be conducted and culprits fished out to face the full wrath of the law.
“So far no suspect has been arrested but our men have been deployed in the area to trail the suspects.” he added.
