The Governor has also reminded the church and the community of their role in character moulding of the child.
Speaking, Sunday at the Qua Iboe 112 Nwaniba Road, Ewet Offot, Uyo during a special thanksgiving and dedication service of the children of his Special Assistant on Research and Documentation, Mr. Essien Ndueso, the Governor said collective responsibility is what is required in Child Upbringing in order to guarantee a safe society for all.
Represented by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the Governor who congratulated his aide and the wife on the arrival of the boys into the family, commended them for patiently waiting on the Lord for a male child. He expressed gratitude that God in his appointed time granted their heart desire with double blessings.
Making reference to the scriptures in Ecclesiastes 3:11 which reads; “He has made everything beautiful in its time.
“Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end”.
The Governor said, “I’m sure that it was this Sunday and it was for this family that that portion was written. Your joy is complete and is full”.
Governor Emmanuel urged the church not to relent in preaching morality and godly lifestyles, asserting that with collective efforts, the society can be made better.
“I appeal to the church, I appeal to all of us that we must be conscious and careful of the things we do, because these children would become what we wrote on them. The church here and the church global must go back to preaching. Every institution has its purpose for why and which they were established”.
“As the family which is the first school that this children will attain, the Governor has asked that I encourage both of you as parents pay attention to the training and upbringing of this child. No matter how successful you are, when you fail in family life, that problem is not just your family’s, but a problem to the entire society, because the larger society would be adversely affected”.
The Governor traced some societal problems including issues of insecurity, like, kidnapping and other social vices as a result of dysfunctional homes.
“We must come to a place of both Personal and collective responsibility in raising children and making sure the world stays very safe”
Leading in thanksgiving, the Governor’s Aide, Mr. Essien Ndueso and Wife, Juliet , were full of praises to God for granting their heart desire.
Mr. Ndueso thanked God for seeing the wife through a safe delivery of the twin boys, saying it could only be God who showed them such favour.
In his homily, Rev. O. T. Benson who officiated the dedication service with the theme, Children as Heritage of the Lord, admonished Christians not to lose hope whenever they are faced with challenges of life, assuring that God would always manifest at the due time to fulfill his promises to his children.
