The Commissioner for Education in Akwa Ibom State says the “unparalleled passion in commitment by Governor Udom Emmanuel towards repositioning the education system will guarantee the future of young people in the state.”
Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, in a goodwill message to make the Governor’s six years anniversary said the poor state of education in Akwa Ibom has been reversed following a declaration of a state of emergency in the sector by Mr. Emmanuel.
“Today we have witnessed the sustainability of the free and compulsory education from Primary to Senior Secondary schools, even in the face of daunting economic challenges.”
She maintained that Governor Emmanuel is bent on ensuring that every Akwa Ibom Child has access to basic education.
“There is an infrastructural revolution where classroom blocks, perimeter fences and other facilities are constructed, re-constructed and equipped for conducive learning environment”
She listed other areas of intervention by the Governor to include payment of WAEC and NABTEB fees for exit-class secondary school students, prompt payment of teachers salaries, payment of counterpart fundings, first ever Education Summit and constitution of a think-tank that produced a 10year roadmap for total turnaround of the sector.
She pledged the support and loyalty of the Ministry of Education to the Governor’s Completion agenda.
