The National Examination Council, NECO have cleared the lair on the controversies trailing the death of Professor Godswill Obioma’s death.
Prof. Obioma who was the registrar of the agency until his demise was reportedly to been trailed by unknown assailants who trailed him from Abuja and murdered in his residence in Minna.
Obioma’s death comes barely 24 hours after a senior citizen, APC chieftain and former Presidential aide under the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s administration, Ahmed Gulak was murdered by gunmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Sunday.
An earlier report from Peoples Gazette had revealed that Prof. Obioma’s wife had confided in them that he was strangled to death the unknown gunmen who did not take a pin from his residence.
Mrs Elizabeth Obioma had told Peoples Gazette via telephone call – ”the assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything.”
Another report emanating from NECO where late Obioma worked revealed he died from a natural cause after battling with a heart failure.
In a letter signed by NECO Director, Human Resources, Mustapha Abdul hinted that Obioma died in his sleep and was not murdered as peddled on the public space.
Abdul revealed news confirming Prof. Obioma’s death was made known to him in a text message forwarded by the second son of Obioma.
The message reads, “this is to formally inform you that my father, Prof. Godswill Obioma, the Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO passed to eternal glory yesterday 31/5/2021 after a brief illness.

Prof. Obioma, a former Ebonyi State Resident Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Secretary, Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council, was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on May 14, 2020 in a letter signed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.
The Abia state born Professor of Education Measurement and Evaluation was aged 67.
