No fewer than two persons have been killed and residents sacked from their community following a renewed cult clash in Etim Ekpo local government area, Akwa Ibom State.
The feud broke out between the Iceland and Debam cult groups in Udianga Anem community, Etim Ekpo LGA, Akwa Ibom State.
According to report, the incident happened on Monday night and lingered to Tuesday morning.
The incident which has allegedly led to the death of two persons has also sacked residents of the community from their homes.
Among persons who have fled their homes for safety is the village head, Chief Mendie Udoekoriko.
Chief Udoekoriko was reported to have abandoned his throne and flee for safety in another nearly community.
Sources who spoke on anonymity narrated that the incident happened after the Iceland group invaded the community to allegedly retrieve items seized by rival group, Debam in Obong Ntak.
Speaking on the matter, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko MacDon who spoke with newsmen on Wednesday said, “full scale investigation will begin as soon as the Etim Ekpo Area Command gives details.
“no one should cash in on the peaceful nature of the state to perpetrate evil.” He added
