… as Earlier Schemes to Discredit PDP Ward Congress in A’Ibom Fails
…delegates Congress most transparent, successful – Gov Emmanuel
Worried by continuous depletion of their support base ahead of the 2023 governorship primary in Akwa Ibom State, some aspirant are alleged to have resorted to plots to unsettle and create tension within the political system.
A source in the camp of one of the trio whose name cannot be mentioned for obvious reason, hinted that given the increasing support base of Pastor Umo Eno, Senator Bassey Albert, Akan Okon and Akan Udofia had met few days before the delegate congress to strategize for possible alternative.
He maintained that the trio were taken aback when they noticed that their support based had irredeemably depleted, hence the make believe media show which he described as a face-saving measure.

He disclosed that a political adviser of Senator Albert had appealed to the other two aspirants to collapse their structures for Albert in order to forge a common front, adding that the appeal was swept under the carpet.
Our source maintained that while Akan Udofia was yielding to the appeal, Akan Okon was quite adamant which made them to resort to the option of storming Abuja with thugs for a protest to discredit the process.
It would be recalled that Senator Bassey Albert, Akan Okon and Akan Udofia in their reports on social media were quoted as saying that the delegates congress did not take place in their wards and other wards.

It was earlier reported on some social media platforms that an insider who is conversant with their strategy book, confided in a reporter that the Abuja protest plot was their last resort after all their earlier conspiracies to abort or undermine the process failed.
According to the report, a source who pleaded anonymity told reporters that they laid ambush to the entire process leading to the ward congress with the hope that PDP will make mistakes or ignore certain aspects of the guidelines, but were beaten to their game as the party followed through every constitutional step on the way to the congress.

“Disappointed that the ward congress was conducted across the 329 wards of the State without hitches and with total compliance to the guidelines of the party, they are now crying blue murder, where non-existed”, the source said.
Our source also disclosed that they had started mobilizing thugs to storm the PDP headquarters in Wadata House, Abuja, as part of their fall back approach.
However, the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has applauded the peaceful and equitable conduct of congresses for the three-per-Ward ad-hoc delegates election across the State.
Speaking at the QIC Group School, Awa Iman, in Onna, where he joined other members of the PDP in Awa Ward 1 for the exercise, the Governor commended the impressive turnout of party faithful and the brotherhood exhibited in the exercise.
He congratulated the trio who emerged winners at the Awa Ward 1 congress in Onna and other wards across the State and expressed hope that the delegates will represent their constituencies well in the upcoming party primaries.
