Mmekudmfon Wilfred Effiong, a 9-year-old girl from Akwa Ibom State has become a role model for an ideal Nigerian child after winning the National Creative Writing Competition.
Mmekudmfon, a primary 4 student at Mobil Pegasus Schools in Eket, achieved an impressive score of 32.7, outshining her fellow competitors, including the first and second runners-up.
The announcement was made by the competition organizers through an online platform on August 5th, 2023.
The competition sponsored by NNPC, Total Energy, SPDC, and Agip Ventures, and organized by Raising Young Authors, attracted participants from schools across all states of the nation.
The program aims to foster and nurture young, promising writers, empowering them to realize their aspirations of becoming celebrated authors in the future.
In an interview with our correspondent, Mmekudmfon Effiong conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to both divine providence and her educators.

She commended her teachers for their exceptional dedication to her academic growth, describing their unwavering support as instrumental to her success.
The young girl who hails from Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area who shared details of her journey to the National Creative Writing Competition, said it was a fulfilling one filled with great guidance from her teachers.
She appreciated her teachers and parents for their selfless dedication in mentoring her, highlighting how they meticulously devoted time to guide her and provided encouragement, even during moments of weariness.
This investment according to the young prodigy bore fruit as she not only claimed the top spot at the state level but also triumphed on the national platform.
Mmekudmfon however extended her gratitude to the event’s organizers for the accolade and awards received.
At the Competition, Mmekudmfon swept an array of awards at the Award of Prizes ceremony held to mark the culmination of the academic session at Mobil Pegasus Schools, Eket.
Among prizes won includes Excellence in Literacy, Distinction in Sciences, Pinnacle in Mathematics, Outstanding Performance in Social Studies, Excellence in English, and the ultimate honor of being the highest achiever in class 4.
