The Governor’s directive affected Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, Special Advisers and Technical Officers, who have been asked to vacate their offices immediately.
In a statement released by the Secretary to Abia State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem, the Governor also directed the State Accountant General to ensure that all the sacked appointees receive their stipends for the month of March 2023.
The Governor expressed his gratitude to the affected appointees for their contributions and services to the state.
This decision by the Governor is believed to be in line with his efforts to restructure and reposition the state for optimal performance.
Meanwhile, reactions have trailed the Governor’s announcement, with some of the affected appointees expressing disappointment over the suddenness of the decision.
