Former Nigerian Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has raised doubts about the educational claims of President Bola Tinubu.
Atiku took to his X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday to express his skepticism and highlight the contradictions in Tinubu’s stated educational journey.
According to Atiku, Tinubu claimed in 1999 to have attended St. John’s Primary School in Aroloya, Lagos State, before proceeding to Children’s Home School in Ibadan, Oyo State’s capital.
“I woke up this morning wondering how we got to this cul de sac. In 1999, Tinubu claimed he attended St. John’s Primary School, Aroloya, Lagos, before proceeding to Children Home School in Ibadan.
“According to him, his next port of call in his educational journey was Government College Ibadan and, Richard Daley College and Chicago State University in the United States.

“Curiously, in 2023, Tinubu settled with attending only Chicago State University. I am scratching my head, “he tweeted.
Atiku expressed his astonishment at these inconsistencies, questioning how someone who claimed to have no primary and secondary education could hold a university degree.
He urged Nigerians to seek clarity from Tinubu about his educational journey, calling for transparency and accountability.
He continued, “How is that possible? Methinks that all well-meaning Nigerians should be as confused as I am with Tinubu’s declaration that he had no primary and secondary education, yet he has a university degree.
“You may wish to ask Tinubu how he attained this feat so that we can learn from his ingenuity.”
Atiku’s Case against Tinubu in United States
This recent controversy follows Atiku’s separate legal action against Tinubu in the United States.
Vanguard reported on August 7 that Atiku filed a case numbered 23-5099 (N. D. III.) at the C for the Northern District of Illinois.
Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communications, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, confirmed the new development in a statement released in Abuja.
According to Shaibu, Atiku withdrew a case previously filed before a Circuit Court in Cook County, Illinois County, United States, with the intention of pursuing the same matter in a higher court.
The decision to refile the case in the US District Court is aimed at avoiding potential abuses of the court processes.
“While Waziri Atiku Abubakar withdrew the case before a Circuit Court, it is important to note that this is just the beginning,” Shaibu stated.
