Seyi Awolowo, a housemate in the Big Brother Naija All Stars Edition and grandson of late Nigeria’s nationalist, Chief Obafemi Awolowo has come under fire over condescending comment on his planned style of boys parenting.
Awolowo, made his first appearance on the reality show edition 4 tagged Pepper Dem Gang in 2019 and finished as the top five finalist.
On July 2023, the medical doctor cum reality star made a comeback to the All Star Season 8 to battle for the grand prize of 120Million naira alongside 19 other housemates.
Recall after the Pepper Dem Gang season, Seyi was dragged by fellow housemate, Natacha Akide for slut shaming and addressing her a ‘puta’, a Spanish description for a woman who has had many sexual relationships with men.
Background – Seyi’s Statement that Sparked Online Controversy
On the All Star Season, Awolowo has faced several backlash for allegedly holding misogynistic opinions in the house.
The most recent which has elicited lot of reactions and response is the one he made yesterday, after the Saturday night’s party.
Awolowo who was having a chit-chat with fellow housemates, Pere, Whitemoney and Soma had said he has plans of raising his boys to ‘run trains’ with people’s daughters when they grow up.

According to Seyi ”I gave birth to a boy first, he will f***k your daughter. I get miscellaneous account for my son I dey pay money put. I get another one for my guy son and for a lot of my boys son. they will fu***k your daughter.”
”My boys will call me and say, daddy I need the Benz, I’ll give them the Benz and I’ll give them the key to the guest house, dem go go run train for people daughter.”
He went to add, ”It’s funny to you cos you think you’re tipsy but I’m saying it lightly. Broh, I’m giving birth to boys and dem go dey f***k people daughter. he added.”
Instances Seyi Has Gone Low on Big Brother Naija
In the Pepper Dem Gang Season, fan of the show were bewildered over Seyi attitude of using intimidate information shared with him by fellow housemates to attack them when they had altercation.
Seyi had used information Frodd, a fellow housemate told him about his mother’s surgery. In another instance, he went overboard to shade Thelma over her brother’s late.
In that season, Seyi who acted like a king also attacked Tacha, another housemate and called her unprintable names on the show.
Shortly after the show, Seyi had openly owned up to his flaws on his social media pages and called for forgiveness as well as disclosed that he is working to improve on his behaviour.
Four after the Pepper Dem Gang season. Seyi who is now married with a kid made a comeback to the All Star Season.
In the current season of the reality show, Seyi has been seen throwing jabs at people’s parents and calling them for failing to raised their kids (fellow housemates) well.
One time, he called Illebaye’s parent saying, ”hello Sir or Ma, is this what you raised?”. Another time he called Angel a misogynist as well as mention causing unrepairable injury to Doyin and Illebaye.
Apart from throwing jabs at especially female housemates, the father and husband has been quoted on the show for holding misogynistic views and referring to female housemates as ‘dirty’.
Similarly, after the Saturday night party, Seyi was quoted yelling at a female housemate Alex and reminding her why she cannot hiss at him.
Nigerians and Celebrities Reacts
The unguarded statement and misogynistic views held by Seyi had raised lot of dust on the social media space. Shortly after the clips resurfaced online, fans of the show took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out all the jurors who voted Seyi to remain on the show.
The reactions has degenerated into a full blown call for the removal of Seyi from the show during the Sunday night eviction show.
Some of the persons who reacted questioned Seyi’s pattern of parenting, and Big Brother Naija standard.
According to Nollywood actress, Kemi Lala said, ”Seyi actually doesn’t like women. Sees women as objects and believes he is superior for him and his kind to trample on. He has consistently made this very clear. It’s also important to note that there are people who listen and giggle with him when he’s making these comments.”

Reacting to the issue, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Agency distanced itself from Seyi’s stance and raised concerns, noting that ‘the bystanders’ passive response in the video is also deeply concerning because it only enables such behavior to persist.”
Meanwhile, Mike who was a jury on the show weeks ago and had voted Seyi to remain on the show in a tweet distanced himself from Seyi’s behaviour.
