Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima have taken their oaths of office and assumed the positions of President and Vice President of Nigeria, respectively.
Tinubu’s confirmation as Nigeria’s 16th president was solidified during the inauguration ceremony held at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kayode Ariwoola, administered the Oath of Office during a solemn ceremony held on Monday.
The inauguration marked the beginning of a new chapter for the country, as the former senator and governor of Lagos State assumed the highest positions of power in the land.
Various heads of state, representatives from numerous countries, the US envoy, and other dignitaries were in attendance at the inauguration.

The Independent National Electoral Commission announced Tinubu, a former Senator and governor of Lagos State, as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
He garnered a total of 8,794,726 votes, securing a clear win over his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, who received 6,984,520 votes.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party followed closely behind with 6,101,533 votes, while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP trailed with 1,496,687 votes.
However, the election results were soon met with legal challenges.
Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) disputed the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.
They sought to contest the outcome, alleging irregularities and seeking legal redress to uphold what they believed to be the true will of the people.
On May 23, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal at the pre-hearing made a significant decision to consolidate the various cases filed against Tinubu.
This consolidation aimed to streamline the legal proceedings and ensure a comprehensive examination of the allegations brought forth by the petitioners.
The tribunal’s decision set the stage for a crucial legal battle that would determine the legitimacy of Tinubu’s presidency.
The Nigerian people eagerly awaits the commencement of the trial, which is scheduled to begin on May 30, 2023.
