Coco Gauff, last night lost the US Open semi final match to her French Counterpart, Carolina Garcia.
The 18 years old was destroyed 6-3 6-4 by the No. 18th seed Carolina Garcia in a dominant match to book a place in the semi finals of the US Open for the first time in her career.
The match was played at Arthur Ashe Stadium, USA.
Coco has always looked up to Venus and Serena Williams as mentors. She hoped to be the youngest semi finalist in the event since Serena Williams back in 1999 but her opponent was too strong for her.
After the match, Coco Gauff had some words to say, “I feel I didn’t play at the level I needed to come out with the win today. Overall, I’m super proud of myself on this tournament, but I’m hungry for more. So maybe next year”.
Garcia had previously lost twice to the 12th-seeded Coco but was far more superior this time around extending her winning streak to 13 matches overall, sending out a firm message to other women in the tennis division.
Garcia will face Ons Jabeur of Tunisia for the final spot on Thursday. Jabeur advanced to the semi-final beating Alja Tomljanovic 6-4 7-6.
