The Brownhill Investments Company Limited, owned by former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Pinnick, has filed a 2.3 billion Naira lawsuit against Nigeria’s music star, David Adeleke, known as Davido.
The lawsuit, marked EHC/183/2023, was initiated before the Delta State High Court in Effurun, alleging a breach of contract.
The claimant, represented by his legal counsel Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem, is seeking 2 Billion Naira as general damages from Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited.
They are also requesting N150 million for legal and professional fees and an extra N30 million to cover the cost of filing the lawsuit.
Brownhill Investments Company Limited is also pushing for a public apology from Davido.
They are requesting the court to mandate the singer to issue a public apology on all of his social media accounts and, in two national daily newspapers for four consecutive days, directed at the claimant and the attendees of the ‘Warri Again Concert.’
According to the statement of claim, the legal dispute stems from an alleged agreement made in early 2023 when Davido approached Amaju Pinnick at the Abuja Airport.
The artist expressed his interest in performing at the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again Concert’, scheduled for October 6, 2023.

After some initial hesitation, they reached an agreement, with a performance fee of N70 million established.
The defendants acknowledged the payment of an equivalent of N70 million (US$94,500.00) made on April 6, 2023, as part of the agreement.
Unfortunately, Davido didn’t attend the event as promised, which meant that Brownhill Investments Company Limited had to cover the costs for advertisements and promotions in newspapers and on social media.
Public Apology
To show how serious they were about the event, the company sent Davido a reminder letter on September 29, 2023.
This letter contained the flight itinerary of a private jet chartered to transport Davido and his team to and from Warri, Delta State, for the event, incurring additional expenses of $18,000.
Despite the preparations and expenses, all attempts to contact Davido and his team on the event day, October 6, 2023, proved futile.
The private jet, chartered at considerable cost, remained on standby at the Lagos Airport, ready to convey Davido and his team to Warri, had they eventually arrived.
Because of these alleged breaches of the contract, Mr. Amaju Pinnick’s company, Brownhill Investments, is now demanding the full payment of the $94,500 initially paid to engage the services of Davido.
