It’s a sad night for Brazil as they leave the World Cup after losing 4-2 to Croatia in a penalty shootout.
The game played at Education City Stadium ended goalless after 90 minutes of regular play.
In the first 30 minutes, the Brazilian side with a 4-3-2-1 formation took great possession of the game, forcing Croatians into defending.
Brazil had 15 attempts at goal in the first 90 minutes but could not make it count.
The game was forced to extra time where both teams played their hearts out.
Dominik Livakovic made some saves before Neymar broke the deadlock for Brazil with a solo goal in the last minute in first half of extra time.
Croatia finally equalized through Bruno Petkovic with a deflected shot off Manquinhos in the second half of the extra time to force the game to penalty shootout.
Livakovic proved his heroics in the penalty shootout once again by denying Rodrygo a goal.
Nikola Vlasic, Lovro Majer, Luka Modric and Mislav Orsic all scored for Croatia before Brazil’s Manquinhos’ penalty effort hit the bar to send his team packing.
It will be the third time Croatia would qualify for the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup.
Dominik Livakovic has had four penalty shootout saves at this tournament.
Croatia will play Argentina next Tuesday in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals.
