Dino Melaye has been declared winner of the governorship primary election conducted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State.
The announcement was made on Sunday by the returning officer after a hard fought primary that saw Melaye clinch victory with an impressive score of 313 votes.
His closest opponent, Idoko Ilonah, could only muster 124 votes.
While Awoniyi Sunday and Musa Wada secured 77 and 56 votes respectively.

With this victory, the former senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Dino Melaye has now become the PDP flagbearer for the upcoming Kogi State governorship election.
Dino, in concert with his supporters were singing after his victory at the PDP primary election venue.
The Kogi State governorship election is set to be a fierce battle between the two major political parties, the People Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Melaye, a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, will be facing off against Usman Ododo, the APC’s flagbearer in the gubernatorial election later this year.
