Speaker of the Ekiti House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye is dead.
Sources close to the family disclosed that Afuye who was aged, 66 died at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital in the state capital, Ado-Ekiti after suffering Cardiac arrest.
The lawmaker, who represented Ikere I state constituency in the house attended the thanksgiving service of the newly sworn in governor, Biodun Oyebanji on Tuesday.
It was gathered that Afuye who once served as Commissioner for Information during Governor Kayode Fayemi’s tenure was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday after he suffered a cardiac arrest.
His death was confirmed in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode.

The Government of Ekiti State regrets to announce the death of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Funminiyi Afuye.
Rt. Hon Afuye died Wednesday evening at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado- Ekiti, where he was receiving treatment after suffering a cardiac arrest.
The late Afuye, 66, was a former Commissioner, Ekiti State Ministry of Information and two- time member of the State Assembly. He was inaugurated Speaker of the sixth Assembly on June 6, 2019.
