FACT CHECK: Viral Sweden Sex Tournament, False – Swedish Sport Federation

CLAIM: Sweden Introduced Sex into Sport Federation.

Recently, social media platforms have been inundated with a wave of unverified claims surrounding a sex tournament purportedly taking place in Sweden.

According to promoters of these claims, the tournament, which would be the first of its kind in the sporting world, was scheduled to be held today in Gothenburg, Sweden.

This sensational claim rapidly gained traction, making Sweden a focal point of attention for individuals seeking pleasure and satisfaction. Various media outlets, including the Guardian.ng, inadvertently fell for the hoax and amplified the news.

Reports circulated online by outlining the alleged rules of the tournament, which were widely disseminated.

Many media houses, reported that competitors of the game would engage in a six-hour daily competition, evaluated by a panel of experts and spectators,

The participants were supposedly judged based on a range of sexual acts, including prelude, artistic performance, number of orgasms, endurance, penetration, and oral sex, among others.

HOW DID IT START?

The frenzy surrounding the supposed sex tournament originated from a man named Dragan Bratic, who owns several strip clubs in Sweden.

In January of this year, Bratic reportedly submitted an application to the Swedish Sports Confederation, seeking to establish sex as a recognized sport.

The Swedish Sports Confederation has officially stated that Bratic’s application was rejected in May.

Anna Setzman, a spokesperson for the Swedish Sports Confederation (Riksidrottforbundet – RI), clarified the situation in a statement.

She emphasized that the inclusion of a sex federation within the Swedish Sports Confederation is entirely false and misleading.

Setzman further added that it appears to be a deliberate attempt to damage the reputation of Swedish sports and the country as a whole.

Setzman said ”Anyone can submit application and said they have a federation or an organization and that they want to be a member, and an application was submitted form someone calling themselves the Swedish Sex Federation.”

”That application wasn’t even completely filled out, so it wasn’t up for discussion. And that’s essentially all we have to say about it.”

IS SEX DONE IN PUBLIC PLACES IN SWEDEN, AN OFFENCE?

Public sex is generally considered taboo in Sweden, as it is in many other countries.

While Sweden is known for its progressive attitudes towards sexuality and a generally open-minded culture, engaging in sexual activities in public spaces is still illegal and socially unacceptable.

Public sex is considered a violation of public decency and can lead to legal consequences, such as fines or even imprisonment.

In Sweden, the laws that govern public sexual activity are primarily covered under the Swedish Penal Code (Brottsbalken).

While the code does not explicitly mention “having s*x in open places,” it does contain provisions that address indecent behavior and sexual offenses in public.

The relevant sections of the Swedish Penal Code include:

• Sexual Offenses: (Chapter 6, Sections 1-14): This section covers a range of sexual offenses, including rape, sexual coercion, sexual molestation, and sexual exploitation.

These offenses apply to both public and private settings and can involve sexual acts carried out without the consent of all involved parties.

• Indecent Exposure: (Chapter 16, Section 7): This section prohibits exposing oneself in a public place with the intention of causing offense or discomfort to others. Engaging in sexual acts in public places could fall under this provision if it involves indecent exposure.

• Disorderly Conduct or Public Order Offenses: (Chapter 16, Section 4): This section covers behavior that disturbs the public order or causes offense. Engaging in explicit sexual acts in public places could be considered disorderly conduct under certain circumstances.
