Manchester United’s woes continued as they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
This loss marked the end of their defense of the cup and piled even more pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side exacted revenge for their defeat to Manchester United in the final of last season’s competition.
United won the Carabao Cup after six years after defeating the Magpies 2-0 at Wembley Stadium.
Ten Hag chose to make seven changes to the squad compared to their previous match against Manchester City, hoping for a positive result.

However, the players brought in failed to deliver, and Manchester United found themselves trailing midway through the first half.
Miguel Almiron surged down the left flank and neatly slotted the ball home after a remarkable 50-yard run by Tino Livramento.
The Magpies doubled their lead before halftime, with Lewis Hall volleying the ball into the net from the edge of the box after a clearance found its way to him.
At halftime, Ten Hag made two substitutions in an attempt to strengthen his side.
The changes did seem to spark some life into the Red Devils, who looked more energetic and determined in the second half.
Yet, they were dealt a devastating blow when Joe Willock unleashed a finely executed finish on the hour mark, extending Newcastle’s lead to 3-0.
The Red Devils faced their second consecutive 3-0 home loss as their troubled season at Old Trafford continues.
United will hope to bounce back from their consecutive 3-0 home losses when they face Fulham at Craven Cottage this Saturday.
