Nigerian Afrobeats star, Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, has passed away at the tender age of 27.
The tragic news was confirmed by his close associate and fellow musician, Olamide, in a tweet on Tuesday.
Mohbad first burst onto the music scene as a dynamic and talented artist, gaining recognition as a part of Naira Marley’s “Marlian Records” label.
Mohbad is known for his versatility in mixing different genres of music, including Afrobeats, hip-hop, and street-hop.
Among Mohbad’s chart-topping hits were tracks like “Ponmo,” “Feel Good,” and the sensational “KPK (Ko Por Ke),” a memorable collaboration with producer Rexxie.

His talent was widely acknowledged, earning him three nominations at The Headies Awards in 2022.
Mohbad’s journey in the music industry was marked by both triumphs and controversies. Two years ago, in 2022, he made the difficult decision to part ways with Marlian Records.
This decision followed a very public dispute between the young artist and his former label boss, Naira Marley.
Mohbad made grave allegations of domestic violence, claiming that he had been physically assaulted on the orders of Marley.
Afrobeats Star, Bella Shmurda, in an interview with Chude revelaed that Mohbad went through a lot. He further revealed that Mohbad attempted suicide.
Mohbad, before his death made a video saying, “Should anything happen to me, it’s the Marlian Music and Naira Marley who are responsible.”
Nigerians on social media have since demanded that Naira Marley address these serious allegations.
