The General Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, made remarks about the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad, stating that he had “reaped the reward of his unpleasant lifestyle while alive.”
Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music record label, died on September 12, 2023, at the tender age of 27.
The Lagos State Police Command recently confirmed the conclusion of an autopsy on his exhumed remains, but the cause of his demise remains a mystery.
During his sermon, Pastor Bakare made several comments concerning the late singer, particularly focusing on his lifestyle and stage name.

He stressed that Mohbad had associated with individuals he described as “evil men” during his lifetime.
Bakare pointed out that Mohbad had engaged in behaviors such as drinking and smoking, which, in his view, constituted an “unpleasant lifestyle.”
The pastor took a moment to ask the congregation a thought-provoking question: “Is Mohbad a good name?”
This question hinted at his concerns about the influence of an artist’s chosen name and their actions, implying that the name “Mohbad” might have been emblematic of the late singer’s controversial lifestyle.
While delivering his sermon, Bakare expressed sympathy for the young artist, clarifying that he wasn’t blaming the late singer, but simply providing a perspective on the consequences of certain choices in life.
He highlighted the swiftness with which the “harvest” of Mohbad’s actions had come, taking him away in the prime of his youth.
