A Nigerian motorcycle rider who killed his father sometimes in 2015 is to die by hanging after the court found him guilty of the charge.
The 37-years old rider named Moses Abdon Edo was sentenced to death by the Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Etinan on Monday, 13th March for killing his father, Abdon Peter Edo and burying him.
What prompted Moses to Kill his father
On 29th July, 2015 being a Wednesday, while the rest of Ikot Ukobo community were going about their legitimate business for the day, Moses had engaged in a heated argument over landed property with his father.
The argument over unresolved landed property escalated to the point where the motorcycle rider chased his father to the back of their house, smashed his head on the concrete wall of his old building.

After noticing the father had died from the smash, Moses without being assisted, buried the body of his late father in a grave which has not been found till today.
How his Confessional Statement nailed him
Moses, the convict in his confessional statement had revealed why and how he carried out the extra-judicial act on that fateful day in their home.
Moses had confessed how he smashed his old man’s head on the wall and proceeding to bury his lifeless body beside his son’s grave in an unknown grave.
The Verdict that Condemned Moses
Giving the verdict on the case, Justice Ezekiel Enang who presided over the matter held that Moses who is the first son of the deceased had confessed to perpetuating the crime because pf paternity and landed property.
In a one-hour judgment, the court held that ”once a confessional statement is positive, direct and unequivocal of fact, it is sufficient to secure conviction of the accused even without the evidence being corroborated.”
Justice Enang said ”In a charge of murder, what the prosecution must prove beyond reasonable doubt, are the ingredients of the offence that the deceased died and that the death was caused by the act of the accused with an intention to kill or cause him grievous bodily harm.”
The Court which found Moses guilty of murder said that ”by smashing his father’s head on the wall, Moses had intention to kill his father.”
In the verdict, Justice Enang found Moses guilty of murder.
Justice Enang ordered that Moses be hanged to death or have lethal substance injected into his body till he dies.
