Nigerian wigmaker, Helen Williams has created the Guinness World Records (GWR) for the longest handmade wig, measuring 351.28 meters (1,152 feet 5 inches).
Helen dedicated 11 days and investing over two million naira (£2,031; $2,493) to bring her vision to life.
GWR officially confirmed Helen’s record through a tweet and subsequent statement on its official website.
Helen began with the construction of the wig’s underlay, making use of wig-cap netting and black fabric attached to a bicycle helmet.
The hairpiece was then crafted using 1,000 bundles of hair, 12 cans of hair spray, 35 tubes of hair glue, and an impressive 6,250 hair clips.

Helen remarked, “Finding the materials to make the longest wig was not an easy task. My experience as a wigmaker helped a lot.”
She faced challenges in breaking the record. “At some point, I felt exhausted.
“However, friends and family encouraged me. I did not want to let them down, so I maintained my focus. The outcome is the longest handmade wig in the world,” she shared
Helen’s record comes in the wake of another Nigerian breaking records on the global stage.
Chef Hilda Baci broke the record for the longest cooking time, surpassing the previous mark of 87 hours 45 minutes set in 2019 by Lata Tondon of India.
Ultimately, Irish chef and restaurant owner in Japan, Alan Fisher broke her record.
He claimed the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual) with an impressive time of 119 hours 57 minutes.
