Nollywood have been thrown into a state of mourning as veteran actress, Cynthia Okereke, passes away at the age of 63.
Late Okereke who was a prolific actress died on Tuesday, 11th July 2023.
The news of her demise was announced and confirmed by her colleague, Joseph Okechukwu, through a heartfelt post on his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday.
Okereke until her demise had an illustrious career in Nollywood, featuring in numerous movies and captivating audiences with her exceptional talent.
She portrayed a wide range of characters throughout her acting journey, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
While she was primarily recognized for her acting prowess, Okereke was also involved in various philanthropic endeavors.
She utilized her platform to raise awareness about social issues and supported causes close to her heart.
The late actress faced a traumatic experience last year when she was kidnapped in Enugu alongside fellow actor Clemson Cornel.
Thankfully, they were released unharmed by their abductors after days of being declared missing.
In the tribute, Joseph Okechukwu, a filmmaker and close associate of Cynthia Okereke, expressed deep sorrow upon hearing the news of her passing.
He revealed that they had been working on a joint project and he had planned to sponsor her trip to America to further their collaboration.
However, fate intervened, and she tragically departed on Tuesday night.
In remembrance of the late actress, Okechukwu shared his grief, emphasizing the fleeting nature of life and the profound shock he experienced.
He offered prayers for his own healing and hoped to eventually find solace in the face of this loss.
Cynthia Okereke’s contribution to Nollywood will be remembered and cherished.
