The Lagos State government has permitted Chrisland High School, Opebi branch to resume physical learning in preparation for the school’s forthcoming examinations, following an appeal by parents.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had earlier ordered the closure of the school on March 3, 2023, after a 12-year-old student, Whitney Adeniran, died under suspicious circumstances.
The Governor had stated that the closure of the school was necessary to allow for a thorough investigation and give stakeholders time to grieve.

The reopening of the school follows an appeal made by the Parents of all Chrisland School Units, who visited the Ministry of Education on Monday to seek the government’s understanding, particularly for the over 500 students who have terminal examinations.
In response, the state Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, issued a statement on Monday evening, announcing that the government had granted permission for students in terminal classes to access the school branch in Opebi and commence physical learning ahead of their examinations, which are scheduled to begin soon.
