The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has killed one Wisdom Sunday Akpan, a dreaded criminal wanted for years for multiple horrible crimes.
The Police Command in a press release signed by its Spokesperson, SP MacDon Odiko and made available to news men in Uyo on August 2, revealed that the dreaded criminal was neutralized by the Special Weapons And Team (SWAT).
Akpan, who was at the top of the Command’s wanted list, had wreaked havoc across the state, causing the deaths of thirteen innocent individuals and injuring twenty-two others.
Recall the Police Command in April 2022 killed one Malachi Friday who was an accomplice of now late Wisdom.
The dreaded partner of Wisdom before he was killed had unleashed terror on the residents, disposing business owners of their ware and making life unbearable for the residents of Ikot Ambang, Use Ntuen, Okobo Ibiono, in Ibiono Ibom local government area.
However, Wisdom’s reign of terror just like his late partner, Malachi came to an end during a confrontation with the SWAT Team while attempting to evade arrest.
The 34-year-old criminal mastermind was identified as a key member of a ruthless armed robbery gang led by the late Malachi Uwem Friday.
His violent actions spanned several areas, including Ikot Ambang, Ikot Efun, Ikot Inuan, Itak, Ikot Osukpong, Okobo Ibiono, and parts of Uyo LGA.
Akpan displayed no mercy, as he dispossessed innocent Akwa Ibom indigenes of their belongings and instilled fear throughout the region.

Recent incidents attributed to him include the murder of Nsikan Vincent Udo at Ikot Efun junction, where he fled with the victim’s new Q-link motorcycle.
He also shot and injured Jesse Johnson and two others in a POS Shop at Ikot Ambang junction on July 8, and on July 5, he viciously maimed Augustina Dominic at her Supermarket.
Akpan’s criminal enterprise targeted various businesses, such as POS operators, filling stations, and supermarkets, amassing millions of naira through his violent activities.
Meanwhile, the death of Wisdom caused serious jubilation in Ikot Ambang and its environs.
Residents of the area who were visibly excited took to the streets in their numbers to chant songs of jubilation as well as hail the courageous police men for ending the era of terror in the community.
The exhibits recovered from the scene of the shootout with the police include a locally reconstructed pump-action weapon resembling an AK-47, cartridges, a Q-link motorcycle, assorted charms, and a mask.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, expressed gratitude to the courageous citizens who provided crucial information, which proved invaluable in the successful operation.
He emphasized the need for continued collaboration between the public and the police to ensure the safety of all citizens.
CP Durosinmi urged criminal elements to leave the state immediately, warning that the police would not hesitate to take firm action against those who persist in their unlawful activities.
He commended the relentless efforts of the Officers and Men of the Command, with a special acknowledgment to the SWAT and F-Division, Ikot Ambang, for their exceptional dedication to duty.
