The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has instructed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to distribute 12,000 tonnes of food items to affected flood victims.
This was revealed in a tweet where the presidency confirmed that 12,000 tonnes of food items from the National Strategic Reserve be transported to affected flood communities across the country.
It reads “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the release 12,000 metric tonnes of food items from the National Strategic Reserve, for distribution to communities affected by flooding, across the country. NEMA has since commenced transportation of these items to the States.”
This gesture is coming after flood claimed many lives, property and displaced people in Kogi, Bayelsa, Rivers Anambra and Taraba States from their homes.
NEMA has started the food distribution to the flood victims, across the country.
