Pandemonium has broken out in Rivers State after lawmakers on Monday, October 30 began proceedings to impeach Governor Siminalaye Fubara.
Governor Fubara was elected into office on May 29 this year after Barr. Nwesom Wike who served for eight years.
The crisis has led to barricading of Moscow which lead to the Rivers State House of Assembly complex, Port Harcourt by security operatives. Rounds of gunshot were fired into the air as policemen try to restore calm in the area.
Factsreporterng learnt the impeachment process was targeting Governor Fubara was chaired by Speaker of the house, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule and well-attended by members.

The plenary also saw the suspension of the House Leader, Hon Edison Ehie, and those aligned with the governor.
This comes hours after allegations surfaced that the explosion on Sunday night in the Assembly was a suspected ploy to hinder lawmakers’ access on Monday.
In a bid to still carry out the process, some lawmakers managed to enter the premises at about 7a.m., and conducted the plenary session where they collectively endorsed the impeachment notice against the governor.
