Ailing Nollywood actor, John Okafor also known as Mr Ibu has had his medical bills cleared by the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation on Friday, 20th October.
The Foundation owned by former Kwara State Senator and Senate President, Bukola Saraki revealed that the organization felt a sense of responsibility to assist Mr Ibu and clear his medical bills.
Although the organization made the revelation on its Facebook page – Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation on Friday, the organization however disclosed that payment was made on Wednesday, 18th October to the actor.
Recall the comic veteran actor who was a screen sensation around the 2000s came public early this week to solicit for help online and reveal the status of his health.
Mr Ibu in the video posted on his Instagram handle @realmribu disclosed that he has been down and may have his legs cut off if he can’t get proper medication attention which amounts to millions of naira.
Mr Ibu while calling for help pleaded with Nigerians to pray for him and assist him financially to get his live back.
Since the information of Mr Ibu’s ailment made its way to social media, spirited Nigerians including fellow actors and musicians have been using their pages to solicit for support for him.
However, the statement from Senator Saraki’s Foundation reads in full,
”The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation is honoured to have extended support to Mr John Okafor also known as Mr. Ibu, a renowned comedic icon who has graced our screens and brought joy and laughter to countless homes over the past four decades.
When we learned of his recent health challenges and the financial burdens associated with his medical treatment, we felt a deep sense of responsibility to assist in any way we could. We promptly paid off his entire medical expenses as of Wednesday.
We encourage everyone who can to come forward and assist in any capacity, whether it’s through financial contributions, moral support, or prayers.
