The Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) for the Best International Feature Film (IFF) category of the Oscars has announced that Stephanie Linus will assume the role of Chairperson.
The IFF formally known as the “Best International Feature Film” category is a part of various film awards, most particularly the Academy Awards (Oscars).
This category honors films that are produced outside of the United States and have a significant portion of their dialogue in a language other than English.
The appointment follows the approval of a restructured 14-member NOSC team by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), and the departure of the committee’s founder and previous Chairperson, Chineze Anyaene-Abonyi.
The reconstituted NOSC is made up of industry experts, each with an outstanding track record in the Nigerian film industry.

In addition to the filmmaker and actress Stephanie Linus, the committee comprises prominent individuals.
These include Chidia Maduekwe, who serves as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC).
Also, Victor Okhai holds the position of President of the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria (DGN).
The committee further includes the legendary actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, along with the experienced filmmaker Andy Amenechi. Yibo Koko, a respected theatre practitioner, is also part of the committee.
Lastly, the committee features the skilled writer/director Izu Ojukwu.”
The committee also boasts other personalities including Adetokunbo ‘DJ Tee’ Odubawo, a cinematographer; Emem Isong, a prolific film producer; Dimeji Ajibola, an innovative director; the talented writer/director Jude Idada; Ngozi Okafor, an industry veteran; the visionary director John Njamah; and the multilingual actress Meg Otanwa.
With the much-anticipated 96th Academy Awards on the horizon, the newly assembled NOSC team is charged with the vital responsibility of identifying, evaluating, and selecting submissions that will represent Nigeria in the highly competitive Best International Feature Film category.
