Supreme Court in Nigeria has dismissed the motion brought by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, seeking to present fresh evidence regarding President Tinubu’s alleged use of a fake certificate before the 2023 presidential election.
Justice John Okoro, heading a 7-member panel handling the appeal, cited the appellants’ failure to adhere to the constitutional 180-day timeframe for amending electoral applications.
Supreme Court Justice Okoro noted that the appellants’ lack of due diligence in procuring the new evidence.

Recall Atiku and Mr Obi had appealed against the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) which dismissed their petitions challenging the outcome of the 25 February presidential election and affirmed the election of President Bola Tinubu.
Shortly after the election tribunal’s verdict, Atiku subpoenaed the Chicago State University to present education details and school certificates of President Tinubu.
Atiku sought to present the documents as part of evidence in his suit against Tinubu.

The judgement when pronounced will lay to rest the legal disputes over the 25 February presidential election.
