The Met Gala’s theme for 2023 is dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld, in honor of the late designer’s unique style and themes.
The event celebrates the opening of the “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” exhibit.
Karl Lagerfeld was a German fashion designer, artist, and photographer, who was widely regarded as one of the most important and influential figures in the fashion industry.
He was born in Hamburg, Germany, and began his career in fashion in 1955 when he won a competition organized by the International Wool Secretariat.
Throughout his long and prolific career, Lagerfeld worked for several fashion houses, including Chanel, Fendi, and his own eponymous label.
He was known for his innovative designs, his signature black sunglasses, and his flamboyant personality.
Lagerfeld was also an accomplished photographer, and his work was exhibited in galleries around the world.
Lagerfeld passed away on February 19, 2019, at the age of 85, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and innovation in the world of fashion.
