After over a month of being away in Europe, Nigeria’s President-Elect, Bola Tinubu, has returned to Nigeria.
The former Lagos State governor arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday, greeted by a host of high-ranking party members.
Those present to receive him were Vice-President-Elect Kashim Shettima, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Tinubu had been officially out of Nigeria for health reasons since March 22, 2023, and his return comes just over a month before his scheduled inauguration on May 29, 2023.

Over the past two years, there has been much debate surrounding Tinubu’s health, and Nigerians have expressed concern about his prolonged absence from the country.
The President-Elect arrived in Nigeria with his wife, Senator Oluremi, who was by his side as they stepped down from the aircraft.
Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 poll, in which he scored the highest number of votes, was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
However, his victory is being challenged at the tribunal by two of his top contestants, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Both Obi and Abubakar have filed petitions challenging the victory of Tinubu in the election tribunal.
