Grant Wahl, a famous United State Sport Writer has died while covering the Argentina vs Netherlands Quarter Finals Match in Doha, Qatar.
Wahl, reportedly slumped in the Press area and was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead, sources say.
Wahl, a recognized Soccer writer in the US who worked for Sports Illustrated from 1996 to 2020, was covering the FIFA World Cup for his Substack feed, Futbol with Grant Wahl.
Reports obtained by Factsreporterng says, the US Sport Writer had fallen sick at the Lusail Iconic Stadium during extra time of the game between Argentina vs Netherlands, Friday, December 9.
Also, report says the attention of medical officials were drawn to Wahl’s case which was responded to swiftly, but he later died.
Recall, the US Sport Writer had early in the World Cup drew the attention of the World after he was barred from entering the US vs Wales match in November for wearing a rainbow coloured T-shirt, which was marked as an LGBT camouflage by officials.
Wahl disclosed that he was detained for about 25 minutes at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium at Al Rattan but later released to go by a security commander.
Earlier on Monday, Wahl had revealed on his website that he visited a medical clinic in Qatar for some complications.

However, Wahl’s death has thrown his family, fans and US Soccer into shock.
His wife, Dr. Cèline Gounder in a tweet on Saturday morning @celinegounder said she was in complete shock.
Meanwhile, Wahl’s brother, Eric Wahl has said in a video circulating online that his brother was murdered.
Eric Wahl said his deceased brother had told him he received death threats from people who he didn’t name.
The U.S Soccer has in its condolence to the Wahl’s family noted that Grant’s commitment and passion to elevating Soccer profile across the US landscape helped drove interest and beauty for the game.
While acknowledging the amount of work Wahl put in to promote Soccer in US, they noted that Wahl’s belief in the power of the game to advance human rights, was and will remain an inspiration to all.
Wahl was aged 48.
