Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has dispelled the widely reported claims of an assassination attempt on his life, revealing that the recent incident was, in fact, a minor disagreement between his security details and military personnel.
The governor disclosed this in a press interview conducted at his Abuja residence on Sunday where he assured the public that there was no attempt on his life.
The incident in question occurred when security details from the Nigerian Police Force attached to the governor’s convoy clashed with military personnel responsible for security on the road.
Governor Bello stressed that the altercation was a result of both units diligently carrying out their lawful security duties, rather than an assassination attempt.

Furthermore, Governor Bello urged the citizens of Kogi State to disregard any attempts by political opportunists to exploit the incident for their gain, particularly as the state’s governorship elections, scheduled for November 11, draw nearer.
He assured the public of his safety and the adequacy of security arrangements to ensure that the upcoming elections proceed peacefully, freely, and fairly.
